Who’s Goliath?
Who’s Goliath?
Back in 1985, David Rodrigues set out to start a home building company with one mission in mind — to create custom homes built on the values of dependability, honesty, and hard work. When it came time to choose a name for his new business, David didn’t have to look far for inspiration. Sitting right by his side was his loyal black Labrador, Goliath — a trusted companion who represented all the qualities David wanted his company to stand for.
From the very beginning, Goliath was more than just a dog — he was a business partner, jobsite buddy, and trusted friend. He went everywhere with David, always eager to lend a paw (and keep the jobsites critter-free). Goliath never called in sick, never complained, and only asked for a snack from David’s lunch pail in return for his dedication. His calm presence and loyal spirit became symbolic of the way David wanted to work with every homeowner — reliable, trustworthy, and always by your side.
Goliath’s final jobsite visit was during the company’s Award-Winning 1989 MBA Parade of Homes model. While he is no longer with us, his legacy continues to inspire every project we take on. For over 25 years, David & Goliath Builders has been committed to building and remodeling homes with the same integrity, attention to detail, and pride that Goliath embodied.
